I just looked back at this video I posted a while back and I apologize for the lousy picture quality. I hadn't had the camera long enough to figure out how to upload the best quality. Check out some of my other videos as they look better but when I compare the original AVCHD file it looks bad. Picture quality really goes down in three steps. The original AVCHD file can be read on the computer using "Splash Lite" and thats impressive. When it's converted to WMA at 720P it looks almost as good and when you upload the WMA to Youtube you lose at least 30% more picture quality. So from the original file to Youtube you lose about 40% original video quality. Youtube is notorious for degrading both the sound and video quality. Further it should not be called HD but rather HQ because of the drop in video quality. Note to those who want good low light quality. (1) Use the highest picture quality setting (MXP) and set it to "Cinema" mode--those 2 combined will knock out 95% of the low light grain that destroys the video. You can use the lower quality setting outside and not notice much difference but inside under low light you will really see the difference. This is a fantastic camcorder. I hear a lot of complains not about the camcorder but the lack of editing software. Over at Amazon I was reading the reviews and a guy said that COREL VIDEO STUDIO PRO X2 DOES a great job. I downloaded the trial version (30 days) and it works flawless!!!! If you want an easy solution thats it. Here ...
